Dating of the sheep house - the oldest barn at Västanvik - to the year 1866/1867
The actual barn is to the left, the cowhouse is to the right. In the middle, the a sheep house with a shed.
Anders Dahlgren and I have taken cores for dendrochronological analysis from the wall between the shed and the sheep house.
That's the wall where you may see some railing ladders for a wagon hanging.
These samples could be dated with high reliability, saying that the trees for that wall were cut in the winter 1866/67.
I also took a sample from the opposite wall, though that could not be dated.
Two out of four samples do not originate from the island of Nämdö. These trees may have grown on the mainland or on the Åland islands - eastwards half way to Finland.
A meanvalue based solely on the two samples originating from Nämdö, contains 103 years and give a correlation coeff=0.79 and a T-value=12.8.
The samples not coming from Nämdö match with a correlation coeff=0.57 towards the curve from Gotland published within "project EXTRATERRESTRIAL". Perhaps that wood was imported from the Åland islands.
The measurement series have been crossdated principally towards SWED302 (Nämdö) in The International Tree-Ring Data Bank, ITRDB
Samples not from Nämdö have been crossdated towards a combination of curves from Sisshammar (Tyresö), Saltsjöbaden, Bettna, Aneby and Gotland, see the ITRDB.
